Brazilian highlights in the Franciacorta round and ends the championship among the best in the OK Junior class

The only Brazilian racing in the OK Junior class competing in the main European karting championships, Miguel Costa finished the Champions of the Future season in the 8th place. The driver competed this weekend in the season finale of the championship, held at the Franciacorta karting track, in Italy, and finished in the top-10 in the qualifying heats.

Costa finished 13th in the qualifying heats, which forced him to race to recover in the qualifying heats. There the Brazilian shone, securing three top-10 finishes in five races, with two sixth places as best results. In the pre-final, a ninth place finish made Miguel advance to the final, where he abandoned in the opening lap after a touch he received from an opponent that caused an accident involving four other drivers.

“The end was not what we expected, especially when we were hit on the first lap of a race that would have had much more time to recover. But that’s what racing is about, and the important thing is that we again showed our capability in the heats, achieving good results. Unfortunately, the qualifying there on Friday disturbed us, but we climbed the pack and had another strong weekend,” said Miguel, right after the end of the Italian round.

After the Champions of the Future, Miguel Costa’s attention turns to the final round of the European Karting Championship, which will also have its last race in Franciacorta. The Brazilian, a member of the Sauber driver’s academy, linked to the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team, hopes for a better result.

“Looking at the bright side, we had a whole weekend of preparation for the European Championship, which is very positive. I want to finish the championship on a high with a view to the competitions of the second half of this year, and I showed once again that I can be among the first places, even starting from the middle of the pack,” added Miguel.

The final round of the European Karting Championship will take place between July 7 and 10, also in Franciacorta.
