Brazilian driver was still among the top three in one of the qualifying races and valued learning in his debut year in the Junior category in Italian Karting

The young brazilian Miguel Costa was one of the highlights of the Italian Karting Championship last weekend in Sarno, near Naples. Debuting in 2020 in the X30 Junior category after being rookie champion in 2019 in Mini, the 11-year-old won fourth place and sixth place in the finals of the double round. Miguel approved his apprenticeship and plans to take the podium for the next stage with the Sauber Karting Team, from the Alfa Romeo team’s young talent academy in F1.

“I am very happy with the good result at Sarno. I believe that we are learning faster and faster in this category, racing among older drivers has been common for me and that makes me increasingly competitive in racing. We will work hard to evolve in the next stages and I am very grateful to my coach Dan Hart. We were close to the podium, so maybe in the next final we could be there in the top three. We will be training a lot for this”, says Miguel, who has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.

The youngest Brazilian in the main European karting tournaments, Miguel competes between drivers aged 12 to 14 in the Junior category. The pilot has shown talent in several championships, with achievements in American karting and also in the WSK. In one of last weekend’s races, Miguel was still third in the qualifier and is currently eighth in the championship among 37 competitors.

“My goal is to continue fighting for good results in the second semester, to continue fighting for victories and next year to start thinking about disputing titles at the WSK and making my dream of disputing the World Karting Championship in Brazil”, says Miguel, who also competes currently in the IAME Series.

The third of the five stages of Italian Karting will take place between September 11th and 13th, in Siena.
