Brazilian Miguel Costa ended his karting career last weekend. The driver took part in the FIA Karting World Championship KZ2, held at the Portimão Karting Circuit in Portugal. In a race involving 101 drivers in the KZ2 category, “Guel” reached the final heat and finished the competition in 16th place.
Racing a Parolin kart, Miguel secured seventh place in his group in the time trial, and showed good performances in most of the qualifying heats, featuring in the top-10 and having a sixth place as his best result. After finishing eighth in the pre-final, the Brazilian completed the KZ World Championship in 16th place.
“I had a good super heat, when I started from 11th position and finished eighth. In the final, I started in 19th place, made a great start, but ended up being hit by an opponent. With three yellow flags, I recovered to 16th place,” said Miguel Costa, shortly after the end of the FIA Karting World Championship KZ2 in Portugal.
“And so my karting career is over. It’s hard to believe as I’m driving and racing around the world, and I started this at just three years old. I have so many people to thank and I know that everyone has played an essential role in my life. You know that,” added the driver, who is preparing for the transition to open wheel cars.
The driver closes his karting career with important results. Miguel’s record includes a top-10 finish in the World Karting Championship in the OK Junior category in 2021. The Brazilian has also achieved good results in championships such as the European Kart Championship and the WSK competitions held in Italy.
