October 2, 2023Brazilian from the Parolin team suffers from a bad set of tires in qualifying at the Franciacorta round of the Champions of the Future and, despite several top-10s in the heats, he is left out of the fight for the top three places
One of the most promising Brazilian drivers in European karting, Miguel Costa ended his preparation for the FIA Karting World Championship this weekend, by competing in the Franciacorta round of the Champions of the Future. Racing at the Italian kart track that will host the most important competition of the season, the Parolin representative accumulated top-10 finishes in the heats, but the unstable performance of the tires provided by the organization hampered the Brazilian’s performance.
After qualifying as the eighth fastest in his group in terms of times, Costa had three consecutive finishes among the top ten in the heats, with a seventh place as the best position. In the last of the heats, however, a bad set of tires meant that the Brazilian only finished in 21st position.
“Guel” still managed 12th place in the pre-final and started the final round in 26th place, finishing 16th. According to the driver, the potential would even be to fight for the podium, if it weren’t for the problem of instability between the different sets of tires supplied at the event in Franciacorta.
“I leave disappointed, as the weekend promised a lot after being in the top-3 in all training sessions. A bad set of tires destroyed our weekend. I was 12th in the pre-final with bad tires, and in the final, with a new set of tires, the speed returned, and I finished 16th, after overheating took away my chances of a top-10”, said Miguel.
“It hurts, because without this tire problem, a place on the podium was possible. I want to thank my mechanic, who worked hard on my weekend, my coach, and all the members of Parolin Racing. Now we will have a few days of rest before the FIA Karting World Championship challenge”, added Miguel Costa.
The FIA Karting World Championship will be held in Franciacorta between the 5th and 8th of October.
