The only Brazilian driver racing in the OK Junior category in the main international karting competitions, Miguel Costa ends this weekend his participation in the European Karting Championship. The fourth and last round of the continental tournament will be held this weekend at the Franciacorta kart track, in Italy.
Costa comes from a good performance in the same Italian circuit a fortnight ago, when the Champions of the Future round was held, competition in which he finished in the top-10 of the final classification. On that occasion, the Brazilian, who is part of Sauber’s driver’s academy, linked to Alfa Romeo in Formula 1, stood out with top-10 finishes, especially in qualifying heats.
“We are going to the last stage of the European Championship with the same goal as always: to show good performances both in qualifying and in the heats and races. Throughout the first semester we showed that we can walk among the best drivers and we will go in search of a place on the podium in Franciacorta,” said Miguel, who currently figures in the top-15 among the 75 drivers entered in the tournament in OK Junior.
“I raced at this same kart track a fortnight ago and showed a good performance in the batteries. Even having to make recovery races, I managed to finish among the top ten in most of the heats, and this gives me confidence for the European stage. I will fight to be in the first places”, completed the Brazilian.
As in the other stages of the European Championship, the schedule will open on Thursday (7), when free practice will be held. The timing and first heats are scheduled for Friday, and continue through Saturday. The final races are scheduled for Sunday, and will be broadcast on the CIK FIA channel on YouTube.
