Member of the Sauber Karting Team, Miguel Costa races this Wednesday (28th) in the third stage of the Virtual Challenge of the Stars, a virtual beneficent tournament that brings together great drivers of world motorsport. Highlighted in the first two stages with pole position, fourth and seventh places, the young driver has as his main objective to fight for the podium in this next double round.
“We are going to race on an English track this Wednesday and I want to keep racing in the top 10, maybe even competing for a position on the podium. I am training a lot with virtual F3 and I have evolved well, so my goal is to keep surprising the most experienced drivers ”, says Miguel, who is only 11 years old.
2019 Italian Karting Championship among the rookies, Miguel has disputed several races in the simulators to remain active while the karting races do not return in Italy and the USA. He even took sixth place at the opening of the F1 Mania eSports Race last weekend. Sauber Karting Team driver, he is the youngest Brazilian to be inside a drivers' academy linked with an F1 team, Alfa Romeo.
Organized by Enzo Fittipaldi and Dudu Barrichello, the competition aims to raise money for solidarity campaigns, such as “Unidos contra Covid-19", promoted by Fiocruz (Oswaldo Cruz Foundation). Young karting talent, Miguel praised the involvement of so many drivers renowned in the competition.
“It was very special to race with some idols in the last stage, Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello participated and it was the first time that I was able to accelerate with them in a virtual race. Everyone's participation in an initiative like this is very important, so we will emerge stronger from this pandemic and be able to return to face-to-face races ”, adds Miguel.
The third stage of the Virtual Stars Challenge will be this Wednesday at 8 pm, with live transmission on YouTube from Band Sports, F1 Mania, Motorsport.com and also on the Acelerados channel.
