Youngest Brazilian representative in an international pilots' academy, Miguel Costa was once again one of the highlights of the WSK Super Master, which had its second stage last weekend in Lonato, Italy. Even with some unhappiness throughout the weekend, the Sauber Karting Team driver was sixth in the Pre-Final and valued to always be among the first of the 108 drivers in the Mini category.
“Unfortunately, in qualifying, I lost my best lap due to a crash in front of me and I believe that we would fight for victory if it weren't for that. We were always between the five fastest among 108 drivers. We started 12th in all heats and had good results, including a sixth place in the Pre-Final. Even with all that, I was very happy with our weekend and it was certainly a learning experience ”, says Miguel, who was Italian Karting Rookie Champion in 2019.
Miguel had his first years in karting competing in the United States, winning competitions in Miami, Florida. The driver also piled up good results at the World Kart ROK in 2018 and 2019, the year he moved to Europe to compete in Italy.
In January, the 10-year-old driver was hired to be part of the Sauber Karting Team, linked to the Alfa Romeo F1 team. Back in Europe after SKUSA’s stage, the Brazilian is the youngest driver to have this type of link in a talent development program linked to a team in F1.
After winning in his first stage with Sauber, Costa valued another weekend of persistence in the WSK. “I am very grateful to everyone at Sauber, they helped me a lot and I always try to repay all this support on the track with great determination. I believe I was able to do this well at this stage and I am very focused on to the next ones. Let's go with everything to win many podiums and victories here in Europe”, says Miguel, who competes in the Mini category.
The next WSK Super Master's stage will take place between March 5th and 8th at La Conca's International Circuit, in Italy.
