Young Brazilian driver in international karting, Miguel Costa made his debut in the KZ class, the fastest in the world, at the opening of the WSK Super Master Series. Competing with the Parolin kart, Miguel showed quick adaptation and climbed positions in the five heats he competed in over the weekend in Lonato, Italy.
“It was my first KZ races in my career, on a very challenging track like Lonato, there was a lot of grip, so it was heavy. Qualifying was difficult because there were many experienced KZ1 drivers, I qualified to start 20th in the qualifying races. I managed to be competitive, we gained positions in all the events and our first objective was to qualify for the final, so it was a good start to the work”, says Miguel, who was top-15 in the pre-final.
The KZ class had 61 drivers registered for the opening of the WSK, one of the main championships in the world and with competitors from many countries. Miguel was the only rider who moved up from OK who managed to qualify for the KZ final.
“I’m still returning to my best physical shape, this sequence of training and races at the WSK will be important to get back to the strong pace we were at in 2023. Even though it’s a difficult track to overcome, we showed that we’re going to come strong in the season”, he says Miguel, who this year will accelerate in the main world championships in the KZ and OK categories.
Miguel’s next challenge will be in Cremona, between the 8th and 11th of February, in the second stage of the WSK Super Master Series.
