Brazilian young driver in international karting, Miguel Costa made his first round in the 2020 season last weekend at the opening of SKUSA in Miami. Always competitive and driving among the first, the driver achieved achieved a top-5 in Sunday's final and only missed the podium after being beaten by opponents in the Saturday and Sunday finals.
“It was a weekend where we were always fast on all the heats and we had everything to get to the podium, if it wasn't for an opponent to get me off track on the last corner of Saturday's final. I was in second place and was hit in a maneuver where the pilot even got punished by the stewards. The important thing was that we showed speed and thank all of the team for the good equipment, ”says Miguel, who competes in the Kart Republic team.
Italian Rookie Champion in 2019, Miguel took third place in Saturday's Pre Final after being fourth in the qualifying class among 32 drivers. In Sunday's round, Miguel was sixth in the qualifying, managed to climb to fourth place in the Pre Final and finished the decisive race in fifth place.
“We would like to finish this round on the podium, we deserve it, but I'm sure there will be other good results in the coming races. Let's focus on our development sequence now in Europe, ” says Miguel, who is sponsored by Baked Potato and Participates.
Miguel returns to Italy in the coming days to begin testing before the opening of the World Series Karting in Adria, which takes place from January 23rd to 26th.
