Italian Karting rookie champion in 2019, Miguel Costa will return to compete in the country of his last title this weekend in the World Series Karting. The 11-year-old, who is a part of the Sauber Karting Team squad, has returned to training in Adria in recent days and this Tuesday (30) will make his first official race after the pandemic in Italy. The WSK will have a double round this week, with the finals taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
“I am very excited to be returning to racing. It was months of racing tests on the simulator and in the last few weeks I still had the opportunity to do several training sessions in the USA and here in Italy, so I feel well prepared to start racing again. My goal is to fight for victories and more achievements this year ”, says Miguel, who has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
Miguel is a part of Sauber's young talents, who have even increased their development program by announcing new drivers to compete in single-seater categories in partnership with Alfa Romeo, the F1 team. The Brazilian driver competes in the Mini category, which has 83 drivers registered for this double stage of the WSK Super Master. Adding the four categories of the championship, there are more than 250 drivers registered for the official return of karting in Europe.
“It is an honor for me to represent the Sauber team and I thank them for their confidence in my work. Mini, the category in which I race, is the one with the most drivers in the championship and the level of the drivers is very high, but I am used to great challenges and I will work to be in the forefront since the first practice ”, says Miguel, which also stood out with international achievements in the USA.
Before the pause with the pandemic, the WSK Super Master had disputed its first two stages, with two remaining this weekend. The Finals of stages 3 and 4 will define the tournament champions.
