April 5, 2021Young driver had an impressive race in the OK Junior Pre-Final, but a crash on the back of his kart in the Final took away his chances of a podium; WSK Super Master Series fourth and final stage will take place in Lonato, Italy, between April 21st and 25th
The Brazilian Miguel Costa continues to impress in European karting with the Sauber Karting Team and conquered a third place in the Pre-Final of the WSK Super Master Series in Sarno, Italy, after starting in sixth place. With a very fast go-kart over the weekend, the young driver suffered a hit on the back of his kart in the Final when he was in fourth and lost his chances of a podium in the OK Junior category.
“Our weekend was very consistent in practices and heats, a pity to have been hit in the rear when I had overtaken and was fourth in the Final. I was pushed on the second corner, which caused an accident. I was very fast and it took away my chances of winning. I am sure that we will be rewarded at the front for our hard work”, says Miguel, who also got a second place in one of the qualifying heats, where he finished all the races in the top-10.
Only in his first year competing in the OK Junior category, Miguel had an impressive race in the Pre-Final and drew the attention of the grid with consistent performances throughout the round. At just 12 years of age, the Brazilian was also featured in the first two stages of the WSK Super Master Series, with a total of 56 overtakes at Adria and a top-5 in the Final at La Conca.
After a year full of races between the top five and ten in the X30 Junior in 2020, in addition to the seventh place in the Italian Kart Championship standings, Miguel now seeks his first victory in the new category.
“Our time will come. I’m already giving a lot of work to the more experienced pilots at OK Junior and we are getting a kart faster and faster. We are evolving with each passing day and we are looking for podiums and victories in 2021. I can only thank the team, my mechanic Frenk Manghisi, my coach Dan Hart and everyone who helps me to evolve as a driver. We are going with everything for the rest of the season”, says Miguel, who uses the chassis of the Kart Republic in the kart of number 321 and has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
The fourth and final stage of the WSK Super Master Series will take place in Lonato, Italy, between April 21st and 25th.
