A member of the Sauber Karting Team, the driver Miguel Costa faces this weekend the second stage of the WSK Euro Series, a competition that returns after a two-month break and will be held in Adria, Italy.
In the opening stage, which took place in Lonato at the beginning of April, the 12-year-old driver was highlighted with a seventh place in the Pre-Final after winning 15 positions in the race and will now seek a podium in the OK Junior category to get closer of the championship leaders.
“We gained a good experience in the European Karting Championship and I learned a lot, so I believe we can be strong for this round in Adria”, says Miguel. “We are working hard and acquiring a lot of track time in this first semester. It’s my first year in the OK Junior category and I hope to get closer to the leaders this weekend”, adds Miguel, who is currently in 12th place in the category at the WSK Euro Series.
A Brazilian standout in European karting since 2019, the young driver made his debut in the European Karting Championship in May and secured a top-10 in one of the qualifying heats of the opening stage in Genk, Belgium.
In addition, in 2021, Miguel was featured in the WSK at the beginning of the year and won a top-5 in the Final at the La Conca stage, in addition to finishing the championship as the best rookie and with an emphasis on overtaking. With an eye on the next challenges with the Sauber Karting Team, Miguel hopes to continue with the evolution within the OK Junior category in his rookie year.
“We still have many challenges in 2021 and I’m sure we’re improving a lot with each passing race, there’s always something to learn. We’re going all out for victories and podiums”, says Miguel, who races with the Kart Republic chassis in kart number #324 and has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
WSK Euro Series free practices in Adria starts this Wednesday (9th) in Italy. The qualifying heats will happen on Friday (10) and Saturday (11), while the Pre-Final will take place on Sunday (12), from 7:40 am (Brasilia time). The Final is scheduled for the same day and will start at 10:35.
