In a complicated weekend at the Zuera Karting Track, Sauber’s Brazilian academy driver has a strong performance in a decision to finish 10th

Miguel Costa had an overcoming weekend at the Zuera Karting Circuit, in Spain, where the second round of the European Karting Championship was held. In a round where he suffered with the tires performance on the beginning, the Brazilian was one of the main highlights when he escalated the pack in all qualifying heats and finished the decision in tenth, after climbing 23 positions in the final of the OK Junior class.

Starting from the intermediate pack, Costa needed to gain positions in the qualifying heats.

The great moment for “Guel” in the round came in the final. The driver from Sauber’s academy started from only the 33rd position, but climbed the pack once again, securing the 10th place, advancing an impressive 23 positions throughout the race and setting the fastest lap.

For all that happened throughout the weekend, Costa admitted that his performance in the final was one of the best of his career.

“It was one of the best races of my life. I had a problem with the tyres, which didn’t perform well in the time trial, and I insisted with the team to change them after the first two qualifying heats, and I got good results from then on,” says Miguel.

“Of course, there remains the feeling that we could have fought for the win, my goal here in Spain. But I’m very happy with my performance in the final. If I had started among the top ten, I could have finished in the top positions. But let’s move on, because soon we will have another round of the European Championship and we will fight for the victory”, added the Brazilian driver.

Miguel Costa’s next challenge will be the Finnish round of Champions of the Future, scheduled for 19th to 22nd May, in Kristianstad. At the same place, but between June 2 and 5, there will be the third round of the European Karting Championship.
