Miguel Costa conquers second place in WSK’s pre-final at La Conca and closes the round in the top-5

After a prominent stage in La Conca, young Miguel Costa will face yet another challenge this season with the third round of the WSK Super Master Series in Sarno this weekend. A member of the Sauber Karting Team, the 12-year-old was second in last stage’s Pre-Final, finished the Final in the top-5 and will now seek a podium in the OK Junior category in Italy.
“We had a good result at La Conca, the go-kart was very fast and we were improving throughout the stage. We will keep up the intense work now in Sarno to continue evolving on the track. The important thing is to keep improving as a driver and the results will surely come more and more”, says Miguel, who is 12 years old and accelerates against competitors of up to 14 years in the OK Junior category.
Miguel’s debut in the new category came when he was only 11 this season after a year of debuting also in the X30 Junior in 2020, where he conquered several top-5 and top-10, in addition to finishing the Italian Kart Championship in seventh position.
In the opening stage of the Super Master Series in Adria, the Brazilian driver was also highlighted with a total of 56 overtakes. With only his fourth stage in the new category, Miguel believes in the potential together with the Sauber Karting Team for the rest of the season.
“We are constantly evolving and I am very excited about what is to come. I believe that I am in an incredible place to conquer wins and podiums and I am very confident in what we can achieve here in the Sauber Karting Team. We are looking for a good result here in Sarno”, says Miguel, who uses the Kart Republic chassis in the #321 go-kart and has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
Track activities for the WSK Super Master Series in Sarno begin this Wednesday (24th) at the Naples International Circuit with free practices, while the qualifying heats will be raced from Friday (26th). The OK Junior Pre-Finals will happen on Sunday (28) starting at 8:40 am (Brazilian time) and the Final will take place on the same day at 11:50 am.
