Brazilian from the Parolin team faces a tough round in Alcaniz and focuses his efforts on the 2024 season

One of the highlights of Brazilian karting in Europe, Miguel Costa started this weekend’s KZ European Championship, which opened at Motorland Aragón, a karting track located in Alcaniz, Spain. The Parolin driver had one of the most challenging rounds and is already focussing his efforts on the 2024 season.

On Friday, Miguel placed 12th in the KZ2 class time trial and went on to the qualifying heats. In most of the races, the Parolin team driver battled for places in the top-10, his best result being ninth. A problem with his kart that was only realised on the super heat formation lap prevented the brazilian from reaching the deciding round.

“KZ is where we have our best equipment, but we kept suffering with the tyres. We agreed with our team-mates to go out one behind the other, but one of our team-mates took his foot off and I ended up pushing the tyres too hard and missed the ideal lap. In the first heat, I was unfairly penalised and finished 23rd. Afterwards, our pace was very good and I finished ninth, 11th and 12th,” said Miguel.

“We set off for the super heat with very good speed, but on the formation lap we noticed a problem that left the kart accelerating. I went to the pits, the team repaired it and I left five seconds behind, finishing 24th. We would have got to the final if it hadn’t been for that. It’s a shame, but it makes us stronger for the rest of the year,” added Miguel.

Miguel’s next challenge in the 2024 European karting season will be the Champions of the Future, whose fourth round will be held in Kristianstad, Sweden, between 17th and 20th July. The fourth round of the European Karting Championship will take place between 1st and 4th August. The final round of the KZ European Championship will take place between 29th August and 1st September in Val Vibrata, Italy.
