Miguel Costa had a great performance at the opening round of the WSK Euro Series, held at the South Garda kart track in Lonato, Italy. The driver was the fastest in free practice in the OK Junior class and finished all races (qualifying and final heats includes) among the top ten, including two fourth places.
Costa, who is a driver from the Sauber academy, linked to Alfa Romeo in Formula 1, was the ninth best in qualifying, and advanced in the heats, when he got three top-5 finishes. In the pre-final, Miguel finished with the sixth position after dropping to 15th place. In the decision, the Brazilian completed the race with the 10th place.
“I had a very strong performance weekend, as the free practices and the results in the heats show. We missed a bit in the final to leave with a podium, but I’m satisfied. Unfortunately, with the new tires our set performance didn’t come, something we have been suffering from since the last stages of the European Championship. We will focus on this with the supplier and our team to evolve and fight for victories in the next races,” said Miguel.
The Brazilian’s next challenge in European karting will be the closing round of the WSK Euro Series, scheduled for the Napoli International Circuit, in Sarno, also in Italy. Miguel Costa is excited and believes he will be able to reach the podium in the round scheduled for July 28-31.
“Sarno is a track that I like a lot and that I am sure I can guarantee good results. I will work step by step so that we can have an even better performance than this weekend to fight for a place on the podium and, who knows, for the victory”, completed the driver.
