In preparation for the closing round of the European Karting Championship, Miguel Costa competed in the penultimate round of the Champions of the Future this weekend, held at the Kristianstad karting track in Sweden. The brazilian, who competed in the OK class, gained 17 positions during the race that determined the winner of the round, and finished in 13th place.
After being in the top-5 in free practice and an incident in qualifying, when he was hit by another competitor, the Parolin team driver had to be perfect in the qualifying heats. Miguel gained at least 11 positions in all the races, his best result being tenth place. After qualifying for the final, the brazilian started 30th and finished 13th, with the biggest climb in the final.
“I knew I had to be perfect after qualifying, and I did just that. I finished in 13th position and was the driver who gained the most positions throughout the weekend and also in the final. I’d like to thank Parolin and my mechanic for their work throughout the round,” said Miguel Costa at the end of the Swedish round of Champions of the Future.
After this weekend’s round, Costa returns to the Kristianstad karting circuit between August 1st and 4th for the final round of the European Karting Championship. The Champions of the Future will have one more round between September 5th and 8th, at the PF International Kart Circuit, the venue that will host the World Kart Championship on September 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th.
