One of the most promising drivers in Brazilian karting, Miguel Costa ended the WSK Final Cup, last Sunday (13), with the fifth place in the championship. The driver, who is part of the Sauber academy, linked to Alfa Romeo in Formula 1, took the sixth position at the end of the race held in Lonato, Italy, after recovering from some tough races.
Costa had a complicated qualifying, but finished the qualifying heats always among the top ten after climbing up the pack in all of them, with the best result being fifth place in the third of the four races. The best result of the weekend came in the pre-final, when Miguel finished third after leading the race. In the final, a sixth place result earned him a top-5 finish in the championship, which is made up of two stages.
“The weekend started difficult, as I got into traffic and tried a new lap, and the track cooled down and didn’t yield any more. I started from the 18th position in all the qualifying heats and always finished among the top ten. In the pre-final, I tested an axle that didn’t work, I led, but finished third. I started from the tenth position in the final and I even rode in the front group, finishing in sixth place,” said Miguel, who will now migrate to the OK class.
“I finished the championship in fifth place, which ends my time as a driver in the OK Junior class. Now it’s time to prepare myself to race in the OK class, where we will have new equipment to keep riding among the top positions and fight for victories and titles”, completed Miguel Costa.
