The young driver Miguel Costa, member of the Sauber Karting Team in karting competitions in Europe, competes this weekend in the last stage of the European Karting Championship in 2021, in Zuera, Spain. After a few days of preparation at the Open competition Champions Of The Future, the 12-year-old Brazilian will seek to end his debut season in the European Kart Championship with a golden key.
“We almost made it to the Final last weekend in Zuera, but a lot of drivers were fast. It’s been a debut season in the OK Junior category with a lot of learning and evolution, I’m sure I’ll leave this year as a much more mature driver on the track. The goal now is to finish the European with a good result to reward our hard work in recent months, so we’re going with everything”, says Miguel, who has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
After a year of prominence at X30 Junior, the young driver debuted at OK Junior in 2021 also with good results, being the best rookie of the WSK Super Master Series in the final standings of the championship, where he also won a top-5 in La Conca, in Italy.
Now more familiar with the Zuera track after the Champions Of The Future stage last weekend, Miguel hopes to be consistent from the qualifying heats to reach the Final of the OK Junior category, which has 101 drivers registered for the last stage of the European Karting Championship.
“Racing now here in Spain was important, as it was a track I had never raced before and I got to know the circuit better. It will be important for me to be able to adapt better this weekend at the European and we’ll look for a nice consistency from the first heats to qualify for the Final, who knows, maybe win a podium, let’s work for that”, says Miguel.
The free practice of the European Kart in Zuera starts this Friday (23), while the qualifying heats will be held from Saturday (24). The Final of the OK Junior category is scheduled for Sunday (25), starting at 8:30 am (Brasilia time) and with 15 laps of duration.
