Brazilian is one of the highlights of the inaugural Champions of the Future round, held this weekend at the same venue where the continental competition will begin

One of the highlights of Brazilian karting in Europe, Miguel Costa is ready for his debut in the European Karting Championship, which will have it’s first round between March 21st and 24th at the Lucas Guerrero Karting Circuit in Valencia, Spain. Last weekend, the driver from the Parolin team competed in the Champions of the Future, valid as the Open of the continental competition, at the karting track located in the Andalusia region, and drew attention for the speed he showed in practice.

After driving among the first in free practice, Miguel received an engine with a new configuration and finished the qualifying session in 11th place in his group. In the qualifying heats, the Brazilian stood out by taking fifth place in the third of the five races. In the final, contested on a wet track, a punctured tire limited the Brazilian’s chances of a top-10 finish.

“I was very fast and the team tested something on the engine before qualifying. I qualified 11th, but by half a tenth, I couldn’t get into the top-5. I managed to improve in all the qualifying heats and took fifth place in the third. In the final, I had the pace to get a top-10, but a punctured tire made my kart undrivable. On the positive side, we showed speed and I’m well prepared for the first round of the European Championship. I hope to fight for a podium,” said Miguel Costa.

The European Kart Championship will consist of four rounds and will visit tracks in France, Slovakia and Sweden in addition to the karting track in Valencia. Before each of these rounds, there will be a Champions of the Future round, which will take place between April 10 and 13 at the Val D’Argenton karting track in France.
