Brazilian standout in international karting, Miguel Costa competed in the championship with 80 drivers of 20 different nationalities, finishing the SRKC as the best non-European driver

Young driver of just 11 years old, Miguel Costa competed in his first virtual F3 tournament and managed to stand out among the main kartists on the planet. The Brazilian driver closed the last of eight stages of the championship with a seventh place at Silverstone and celebrated his evolution during the championship, which had only by kartists.

“It was my best race in the championship at Silverstone, so it shows that we have evolved a lot since the first stage. We were always in the top 10 in training and it was a shame to be muddled at qualifying. Even starting at 15th, I managed overtakes to finish seventh in this race. There were 80 pilots in the championship, so having closed in 17th place was very positive, mainly because I was the best placed driver among non-European”.

Member of the Sauber Karting Team, Miguel Costa is the youngest Brazilian ever to be a part of a drivers' academy linked with an F1 team, Alfa Romeo. Taking advantage of the quarantine period, Miguel has used time when he would be at the karting circuit to compete in virtual races and keep up with the competition.

“No driver likes to sit still, so the simulator has been a great tool for us to follow our preparation for the sequence of the season. I am rooting for the improvement of the pandemic in Brazil and also in Italy and the USA, countries that I was competing in the main world championships in karting ”, says Miguel, who was Italian kart champion among the rookies in 2019.

With the good performance in the virtual championship, the Brazilian also received the invitation to compete in the Kokoro Invitational Series, which will have four stages in the following calendar:

-1 May – Interlagos

-8 May - Silverstone
