A member of the Sauber Karting Team, young Miguel Costa competed in the last stage of the WSK Euro Series last weekend in Sarno, Italy, and featured in the OK Junior category. The Brazilian driver was consistent in qualifying heats with a second place and three top-5s, in addition to finishing the Pre-Final in the top ten.
“It was a weekend where we were with a very fast go-kart. We showed a lot of speed since practice and it was a unfortunate to abandon it in the Final, as we had a real podium chance at Sarno. We will keep practicing a lot for the next challenges”, says Miguel, who has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
In the round of the WSK Euro Series in Adria, the young Brazilian was also highlighted with 13 overtakes in the Final, and since the beginning of the 2021 season he was featured in the WSK with a top-5 in the Final in La Conca Super Master Series round, championship in which he was also the best rookie. With an eye on future challenges in Europe in 2021 with Kart Republic, Miguel believes it is possible to win this season.
“We are in a season of a lot of learning and evolution, especially since I’m in my first year as OK Junior. After stages where we had difficulties in getting a good fit, we saw here in Sarno that we have the potential to always be among the top players. So I believe we can improve our pace a lot in 2021 and win here in Europe. We are going in search of many achievements”, says Miguel, who will also compete in the World Karting Championship in Brazil in October.
WSK will now return to the Open Cup, which will have its first stage held in Lonato, Italy, between the 15th and 19th of September.
