At just 12 years old, Miguel Costa will race this weekend in the second stage of the WSK Super Master Series, which this time will happen in La Conca, Italy. Member of the Sauber Karting Team, the young Brazilian driver hopes to continue his evolution with the team after being highlighted in the opening stage of the tournament, in Adria, with 56 overtakes in total.
“We are working hard to continue to evolve. We had problems in the qualifying in the last round, but I believe that we learned a lot as always and it was a stage of overcoming, coming from behind the grid and overtaking many karts. Now in La Conca, we are looking for a good qualifying practice to be able to start further in the Final and fight for the victory”, says Miguel, who uses the Kart Republic chassis in the #321 kart and has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
In WSK’s Super Master Series opening round, held in Adria (Italy), the member of the Sauber Karting Team finished three races in the top-15 among 93 drivers registered in the OK Junior category, a class in which Miguel made his debut in 2021 when he was only 11 years old.
After a year of prominence in 2020 in the X30 Junior category with several top-5 and top-10, in addition to achieving a 7th place in the final classification of the Italian Karting Championship, Miguel seeks his first podium in the new category.
“It is always important to adapt well to the circuit and we are looking for it this weekend. We have been in constant evolution since the WSK pre-season tests and we will work to find our best kart set-up. Our first podium at OK Junior would be very special, so we will be looking for that”, says Miguel.
The WSK Super Master Series free practice starts this Wednesday (10th) in La Conca, Italy. The OK Junior category pre-finals are scheduled to take place from 6:40 am (Brazilian time) on Sunday (14th), the same day that the final will be raced at 10:05 am.
