Sauber academy driver disputes this weekend the opening round of the WSK Euro Series, in Italy

Miguel Costa ended the European Karting Championship this weekend as one of the highlights of the qualifying heats om the final stage of the season, held in Franciacorta, Italy. The only Brazilian in the OK Junior class of the continental competition secured top-5 and top-10 finishes and guaranteed one fastest lap throughout the Italian round.

The Sauber academy driver, linked to the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team, got a fifth place as the best result in the qualifying heats, where he also scored a seventh and a tenth place, in which Costa also set the best lap of this last race.

“The performance was good in the heats, even with a little problem with the new tyres. But I was the best driver of the team and lined up three top-10 finishes. I made a great start in the pre-final, but had an accident. Even so, I’m happy for having shown our real pace throughout the weekend”, said Miguel.

With no time to rest, the Brazilian driver is already focusing his efforts in his newest challenge of the year: the WSK Euro Series, which opens his season at the South Garda Karting Circuit, karting track located in Lonato, Italy. The opening round will be held between Thursday and Sunday.

“I am looking forward to the WSK Euro Series. It is a short championship, with only two rounds, so it is vital that we get a good result right from the start in Lonato. It’s a track that I like a lot and I hope to get a great result”, said Costa.

Besides the Lonato round this weekend, there will be a second meeting, in Sarno, between 28 and 31 July. It will be the fifth championship that Miguel Costa will dispute this year, which already had the Brazilian on the grid in the WSK Champions Cup, WSK Super Masters, Champions of the Future and in the European Karting Championship.
