One of the main names of Brazilian karting abroad, Miguel Costa became this weekend one of the 15 best drivers in Europe. The Brazilian competed in the closing round of the European Karting Championship, the most important competition on the continent, and even facing difficulties in Cremona, Italy, closed the competition with the 14th place in the final standings among 86 drivers in the OK class.
In the final round of the European Karting Championship, Miguel had a good performance in the qualifying, when he was sixth in his group, and remained in the top-10 in most qualifying heats, with a fifth place as his best result. An abandonment in the fourth qualifying, and another in the pre-final, took the Parolin team driver out of the decision.
“We had a solid qualifying and I was always among the fastest in the qualifying heats, even starting from the outside, which is complicated in Cremona. I finished most of the heats in the top ten, but two retirements took me out of the final. It’s part of our sport, and I finished the European Karting Championship with 14th place,” says Miguel Costa.
The driver now turns his attention to the competitions of the second semester, of which the main objective is the World Karting Championship, which will be held at the Franciacorta karting track, also in Italy, between October 5th and 8th. Before that, between the months of August and September, Miguel will do several training sessions and will compete in the WSK and Champions of the Future precisely on the Italian circuit that hosts the World Championship.
