November 17, 2019Young Brazilian driver Miguel Costa made his debut at the Castelletto track in Italy, a stage valid by WSK, one of the world's leading kart championships. Running in the Mini category, the Brazilian driver faced several weather changes throughout the stage, taking wet and dry asphalt, and valued the five top-five he won over the weekend.
“It was a busy weekend: the track was wet many times and in some races it was dry. So being a new circuit for me, I believe our results were good, especially with the seventh place in the Prefinal”, says Costa, who was in the top-10 on all qualifying heats.
The young driver competes for the official Kart Republic team, led by experienced Italian coach Dino Chiesa, responsible for successful karting careers such as Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, two of the last F1 world champions. The partnership has already yielded titles for the Brazilian in the 2019 season, including the Italian kart championship, in which Costa was the rookies champion with three wins in the year.
The next and final leg of the WSK in 2019 will be played this weekend in Adria, Italy. The stage will be valid for the WSK Final Cup and closes the competition calendar for the season.
“We look forward to this new challenge in Adria. I already have a year of experience at Mini and I am sure that the results will be better and better, so we will work hard to get strong by 2020”, adds Costa.
The good debut year in Europe in 2018 crowned strong expectations after a series of achievements in the United States. In 2016, Miguel Costa was Micro Champion with six wins and seven poles. He also won runner-up in the ROK Cup with a win, repeating this placement the following year (2017), this time with two wins.
