The young Brazilian Miguel Costa races this weekend the WSK Champions Cup, first competition of the World Series Karting in the 2023 season. The tournament in Lonato also marks Miguel’s second challenge aboard Fernando Alonso’s team in karting. Miguel’s debut in the OK category took place last weekend at the Winter Cup, which was used by the Brazilian as an adaptation stage to the new equipment.
“I really enjoyed this first challenge competing with DPK Racing. I was very well received by the team and I feel more prepared for the WSK opening. It was good to compete again at Lonato, where we will continue racing this week,” says Miguel, who is only 13 years old.
An integral driver of the Sauber Academy, linked to the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team, Miguel has accumulated podiums in his career in the WSK, Italian Kart Championship and Champions of the Future, as well as several achievements in American karting and top-10 finishes at the World Karting Championships in 2021.
“The temperature here has been a challenge, we even lost a day of practice because of the snow last week, but I was happy to be able to gain positions during the heats and we hope to come strong in the final this week,” adds Miguel.
The WSK official practices will start on Wednesday (25) and the first races are scheduled to be held on Friday (27). The finals of all categories have been scheduled for Sunday (29).
