One of the main names in Brazilian karting in Europe, Miguel Costa was one of the highlights of the second round of the 2023 season of the European Karting Championship, held at the kart track in Trinec, Czech Republic. The driver was always among the top-10 in the OK class throughout the weekend, and finished the round with the ninth place in the final heat this Sunday, being the best rookie of the round.
Costa stood out since the beginning of the activities at the Czech track, being the fourth fastest in his starting time, and 11th overall. In the qualifying heats, the Brazilian driver from the Parolin team obtained a third place as the best result, as well as a fifth place and a sixth place in three of the races.
On Sunday, the day reserved for the decisive races in Trinec, Miguel achieved two positive results. In the pre-final, the Brazilian reached seventh place, guaranteeing 13th place for the starting grid of the final stage. In the decisive race, Costa gained four more positions to finish with the ninth position.
“It was a very positive weekend, constantly managing to be among the top ten. In the races, starting from the outside, it is very difficult to overtake, and my best result in the heats was obtained starting from the outside. I was able to put on new tires in the last heat, which allowed us to be faster in the finals. But I am happy with the performance,” said Miguel.
The next round of the European Karting Championship will be held June 15-18 at the Rodby kart track in Denmark. Before that, in the same place, there will be the third round of the Champions of the Future, a tournament that serves as the “open” of the continental competition, which takes place between May 31 and June 3.
