Miguel Costa back to WSK for new titles in Europe

The best drivers in the world of karting are back in action this weekend in Castelletto, Italy, where the WSK Open Cup will be held. In the Mini category, from 9 to 12 years old, one of the highlights is the Brazilian Miguel Costa, who called attention in Europe for its quick adaptation to the championships that bring together a world kart elite. The young driver competes for the official Kart Republic team, led by experienced Italian coach Dino Chiesa, responsible for successful karting careers such as Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, the last two F1 world champions.

Costa overcomes adversity in tag mini

The rain-filled raceday appeared to be in the hands of Miguel Costa after qualifying, as he scored the pole by more than two tenths of a second over Max Garcia, Jakub Kolar, and Matias Orjuela. However, a drying track is always a challenge for drivers, especially the leader. Costa found himself to be on the harsh end of this lesson when he came in too hot into turn 4 on the opening lap and made heavy contact with the outside barriers, forcing an early exit from the Pre Final. This opened the door for Kolar to slip through to the lead, making the more cautious decision to stay on rain tires.
