March 18, 2020SKUSA Pro Tour will take place this weekend in New Orleans and the Sauber Karting Team brazilian driver will compete in the Mini Rok category
Experienced in go-kart racing in the USA and only 11 years old, this is Miguel Costa, a Brazilian driver who will compete in the main tournament in the country this weekend. The SKUSA Pro Tour, which will take place in New Orleans, brings together competitors from various parts of the Americas and the young driver will seek more victories for the sequence of the season.
“It is always special to race here in the USA and I hope to dispute the victory in all the heats in this stage. We will go with everything in practice to get to know the track well and arrive with the right go-kart for the races”, says Miguel, who was rookie champion of the Italian Karting Championship in 2019.
Sauber Karting Team driver, Miguel is the youngest brazilian representative in an international driver academy linked to an F1 team (Alfa Romeo). Costa had in his initial plan to race this weekend at the World Series Karting, in Italy, but the stages of March were postponed due to the Coronavirus. With that, the young driver returned to the USA to maintain a strong pace in 2020.
“I'm hoping that Italy will recover soon. It is a place that I love to race and I am looking forward to speeding up there once everything is resolved. Now, we will continue to work hard here in the USA so as not to lose pace while competitions are suspended at the WSK”, says Miguel.
Costa had his first years in karting competing in the USA, winning several competitions in Florida. The driver also accumulated good results at the ROK Karting Word Championship in 2018 and 2019, the year he also started competing in Italy.
The official SKUSA Pro Tour activities start this Friday in New Orleans with the competition's free practice. The qualifying and the Pre-Final will take place on Saturday (14), while the finals of all categories are scheduled for Sunday (15).
