June 29, 2021Miguel Costa finishes preparation for the final stage of the European Karting Championship in Spain
July 20, 2021Brazilian driver showed a good race pace with the chassis of Kart Republic even after suffering a touch in the qualifying in Sarno and this week will accelerate on one of the longest and fastest tracks in world karting: Zuera
A member of Sauber Karting Team’s young talents program, Miguel Costa competed in the third round of the European Kart Championship last weekend, a stage that took place in Sarno, Italy. Even after suffering a touch in qualifying and dropping the batteries from the back of the pack, the Brazilian driver showed a good race pace with the chassis of Kart Republic.
“Our pace, in terms of kart speed, was top-5 overall in the OK Junior class. We did good races, we suffered a touch in qualifying and that ended up making us start more behind the pack, but the rhythm was there. We had the potential to reach the podium with the speed we had and we will try to maintain it in the coming weeks”, said Miguel, who has the support of Baked Potato and Participa.
In his debut season in the OK Junior category, the young driver, just 12 years old, was already the best rookie of the WSK Super Master Series, one of the biggest tournaments in European karting. In addition, Miguel got a top-5 in the final of the La Conca stage and was featured in the opening stage of the European Championship in Belgium, with a race in the top-10.
With an eye on the final stage of the European Kart Championship in July in Zuera, the Spanish track on which Miguel will drive for the first time, the Brazilian expects a quick adaptation to the track with Champions Of The Future, a kind of Open for the next stage of the European which will be played on the same circuit.
“The last round of the European Kart will be at the end of July and we will have a preparation competing in Champions of The Future this week. There will be several races on the same circuit as the European, which will be great considering I’ve never been on that track. The adaptation will be important and we are going to look for good results for the rest of this month”, says Miguel.
