October 15, 2024Brazilian showed good pace in practice and in dry track heats during the final round of the Champions of the Future, in Portimão, and is aiming for a positive result at the KZ FIA Karting World Championship in two weeks’ time.
Brazilian Miguel Costa has finished his preparation for the KZ FIA Karting World Championship, scheduled for October at the Portimão Karting Circuit in Portugal. This weekend, the driver was at the circuit located in the Algarve region for the Champions of the Future, a competition that serves as an Open for the World Championship, and showed good performance on a dry track.
After showing his strength in free practice on dry tarmac, “Guel” had to set out on a recovery run after the qualifying session was held in the rain, as well as the first race. The brazilian showed speed and managed many overtaking moves to always finish near the top-10. Even though he missed out on the final, the driver highlighted his performance.
“I was in the top three in every practice session on a dry track and in that condition we would certainly have been in contention for the podium. In qualifying and the first race it rained and the difference in the tires was brutal. The kart became unstoppable. I made good recovery runs and in the super heat I couldn’t escape an accident. The good pace in the dry remains from this weekend,” said Miguel.
After the Champions of the Future, the driver will compete in the KZ FIA Karting World Championship between October 10th and 13th, also in Portimão. The competition should be his last in karting, as Miguel plans to make the transition to cars in 2025, moving on to formula racing.
