In the final phase of his karting career, Miguel Costa has one of the biggest challenges of the season this weekend, with the FIA Karting World Championship, which will be held at PF International, a karting track located in Grantham, England. To this end, the brazilian competed in the final round of the Champions of the Future, which served as the World Championship Open this week.
Racing in the OK class, Miguel faced dry and wet track conditions this weekend. After qualifying with the fourth best time in his group, the Brazilian, who made his debut this weekend with the Victory Lane team, had two top-five finishes in the qualifying heats, with a third and a fourth place. Two retirements, however, prevented him from reaching the final.
“We had speed all weekend. In qualifying, I was fourth in the group and managed a third place in the first qualifying heat, and in the fifth heat, I finished fourth, setting the best lap of the weekend. We’re going to the World Championship for our last OK race and fight for a good result,” said Miguel Costa.
With his attentions focused on the World Kart Championship, the Brazilian will make his debut in the competition on Friday (13) with free practice, time trials and the first qualifying heats. Saturday will see the completion of the heats, while the super heat and the decision that will determine the world champion will take place on Sunday, broadcast on YouTube.
