One of the main names in Brazilian karting working in Europe, Miguel Costa is taking part in the final round of the Champions of the Future this weekend, at the Franciacorta karting track in Italy. The competition, which will last until next Saturday, serves as an Open for the World Karting Championship, which has also been confirmed for the same karting track.
Miguel is coming off a good performance in Franciacorta. In the first round of the WSK Euro Series, held last weekend, the Brazilian driver from the Parolin team finished in the top five in most of the qualifying heats. The driver also points out that, unlike in previous rounds, he will have the equipment he will be using in the World Championship.
“In the other rounds, Parolin opted to keep the top equipment, but this weekend is a little different because it’s the World Championship Open. We’ll have the same engine and gasoline as the World Championship and that gives us better conditions to fight at the front. Franciacorta is a simple track, but that helps the engine a lot. We were competitive in the WSK and today we were in the top three in every practice session,” says Miguel.
“We’re excited. There’s a chance of rain, which changes the weekend a lot. And we’re looking forward to a great race this weekend so that we can go to the World Championship fighting for victory,” adds Miguel, who is racing in the OK category for the first time this season.
The activities opened on Wednesday with free practice. Thursday will feature a time trial and the start of the qualifying heats, which will continue until Friday. The pre-final and the deciding round will be held on Saturday.
