Sauber Academy Brazilian driver puts on a show, climbs the grid in the final and secures second place in Lonato in the WSK Open Cup

One of the main highlights of the Brazilian karting in Europe, Miguel Costa conquered the second place in the WSK Open Cup, single round competition held in South Garda Karting, karting track located in Lonato, Italy. The driver was one of the great names of the competition, staying most of the time among the top three in the qualifying heats and in the finals.

Miguel won the first of the five qualifying heats and stayed among the best in the following races, converting three top-3 and four top-5. The good performance was also reflected in the pre-final, when the Sauber academy driver took third place. In the final, Costa climbed up the grid to secure the podium.

“I have no words to describe how happy I am with this podium here in Lonato. It was a round where finally all our potential was evidenced in the result. Even starting from the outside in the heats, I managed to get good results. I won the first race in the rain, and I had good performances in the other qualifying races. I secured a third place in the pre-final and climbed from ninth to second position. It’s a result that I was hoping for some time and that makes me happy for the end of the season”, says Miguel.

Now, the driver sets off for his last competition of the season, the WSK Final Cup, which will be contested in two rounds. The first of them is scheduled for November 3-6 in Sarno, where Miguel achieved good results this year, such as top-5 finishes in the WSK Euro Series and the Italian Championship. The final round will be held in Lonato, between November 17 and 20.
