Miguel Costa shows good performance in qualifying heats at the World Karting Championship

October 4, 2022With three more races to go until the end of the year, the Sauber academy driver races the WSK Open Cup, a single stage tournament, in Lonato.
One of the highlights of Brazilian karting in Europe, Miguel Costa competes this weekend in the WSK Open Cup, a single-round championship at the South Garda Karting Circuit, a kart track located in the Italian city of Lonato. The driver leaves for the competition with a single thought: to win.
“Our expectation is to win. There are three rounds left until the end of the year, all of them in the WSK”, said Miguel, referring also to the last races of the year, valid for the WSK Final Cup, a championship that will have races in November in Sarno and also in Lonato.
Despite his thoughts about winning, the Sauber academy driver knows the difficulties he will face this weekend. Costa explains that the track is not as favorable for his equipment as circuits such as Sarno, also in Italy, and Zuera, in Spain.
“The track doesn’t favor us as it did in the World Championship. But I will always compete to win. And, if everything happens, we will certainly win. In Sarno we had good performances, and in Zuera I won several races. I know the difficulties, but I will fight for a good result,” followed Miguel, who is doing his last races in this class.
“Theoretically, I could do one more year of OK Junior, but I decided that I will move up to the OK class next season. The OK equipment is better and is practically the same material we had in the World Championship,” added the driver.
The free practice sessions will continue until Friday, when the first qualifying heats will be held, and will continue until Saturday. The pre-final and the final are scheduled for Sunday.
