January 25, 2022With Sauber Karting Team permission, the young Brazilian driver will race with the FA Alonso Kart, which is four-time CIK-FIA World Champions and five-time CIK-FIA European Champions
This weekend, Miguel Costa will race the WSK Champions Cup at the South Garda circuit, in Lonato, Italy, with FA Alonso Kart, the two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso karting team. The young driver is still a member of the Sauber Karting Team, an academy linked to the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team, but it will not participate in this round of the WSK.
With the non-participation of the Sauber Karting Team in the first round of the WSK Champions Cup, Miguel Costa got the permission to race for FA Alonso Kart and the young driver embraced the opportunity.
“I am very happy with the invitation and I can’t wait to race at South Garda this weekend. It is a track that the drivers on the grid know well, but I will certainly give my best, extracting the best possible result and, who knows, claim a victory to open the season on the right foot. I would like to thank Fernando Alonso and his team for the invitation, as well as the Sauber Karting Team for releasing me”, says Miguel.
FA Alonso Kart is a team created by the two-time F1 world champion and is four-time CIK-FIA World Champions and five-time CIK-FIA European Champions. The F1 Spanish driver’s team has seen five of its former drivers make it to the world of F1, they are: Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon, Daniil Kvyat and Oscar Piastri.
WSK Champions Cup first round track activities begin on Wednesday (19) with free practice, qualifying heats will take place from Friday (21), while the pre-final and final will be on Sunday (23).
