After the renewal with the Sauber’s young talents team, linked to Alfa Romeo, the 11-year-old remains motivated and prepared for an season of evolution. “We were able to surprise the team with tests a few weeks ago. I’m very fast on both dry and wet tracks. They are very good and more experienced drivers than me, so I am motivated to learn more and more in a new category”, says Miguel, who uses the chassis of the Kart Republic and has the support of Baked Potato and Participa. Miguel competed in his first season in the X30 Junior category in 2020 and will now move up to OK Junior in 2021, even at just 11 years of age – the category houses drivers between 12 and 14 years of age. Last year, the young talent featured in championships in Italy, conquering several top-5 and top-10 and finishing the Italian Karting Championship in 7th place. Now in the beginning of the season with the Sauber Karting Team, Miguel values the preparation that did not stop over the holidays and sets his goals for the season at OK Junior. “The important thing is to always keep getting ready and improving,” says Miguel. “We didn’t stop practicing in late 2020 and early 2021, so it certainly helped us to evolve. We are entering a very high level category and I believe that the goal is to be the best rookie of the year, which is difficult, but we are looking for that this season. And it all starts this weekend in Adria”, adds Miguel. The WSK Champions Cup will be held from this Thursday (18th) and will end this Sunday (21st) in Adria, Italy.
