December 7, 2020Brazilian driver achieved good results even with few practices on the track at the Andrea Margutti Trophy, in Castelletto; Miguel will participate in official tests with Kart Republic this week, in Adria, Italy
The young talent Miguel Costa, a member of the Sauber Karting Team at the age of 11, competed in the traditional Andrea Margutti Trophy, which took place last weekend in Castelletto, Italy. Champion among the debutants of the Italian Karting in 2019, the Brazilian achieved good results even with few practices on the track.
“I did just two practices and was soon in the top five. Qualifying was not very good and we started in 13th in the first race, but we did a good recovery, to finish in sixth, the same position we finished in the second race. We still had a fourth place in the Pre-Final and another sixth place in the Final, so the results were consistent”, says Miguel, who uses the Kart Republic chassis and is supported by Baked Potato and Participa.
Miguel continues on Sauber’s young talent development program, linked to the F1 Alfa Romeo team. In his first season in the Junior category, still among older drivers, the Brazilian driver won several top-5 and top-10 in Italy, in addition to finishing the Italian Karting Championship standings in seventh place.
Even though he is unable to compete at WSK due to his age, Miguel is prepared to race in official tests with the Kart Republic in Adria, WSK’s next stage track next week. The young Brazilian will participate in tests alongside drivers in the OK Junior category.
“We are going on Thursday for the official OKJ tests before the WSK, which we cannot race yet, but we are going to do the official tests there and it will be the first time that we will walk alongside the drivers of our team, who are always ahead among the best in the world. We are very excited about what is to come”, adds Miguel.
