One of the main championships of American karting, the SKUSA Winter Series starts this weekend in Miami and Brazil will have Miguel Costa among the representatives with good chances of competing for the title. A young revelation of just 10 years, Miguel won one of the stages of the competition in 2019 and will try to make an even better result by 2020 as the international karting open season.
“I'm very excited for this season start here at SKUSA. Last year we did very well, I remember doing one of my best races of 2019 starting in sixth and winning the race after overcoming great drivers, including what had been voted best driver in Europe in the category”, recalls Miguel, who has sponsorship from Baked Potato and Participa.
SKUSA is the most important kart league in the US and has opened the American season in recent years. As in 2019, Miguel will do most of his competitions in European karting, seeking new achievements at the WSK and also in the Italian Championship, competition in which he was rookie champion.
“The expectation for this season is very good and I'm very happy because the people of my team in Europe, Kart Republic, came here in Miami to support me at SKUSA. This is important for me and I also thank Agnaldo Camba, head of MC Racing, who has been working with me since I was five years old and has helped me in my karting progress”, says Miguel.
Camba has a special history in karting and has worked for over 20 years with the Piquet family. He was important in the formation of Nelsinho and Pedro Piquet.
The first round of the SKUSA Winter Series begins with qualifying, Pre-Final and Final being played this Saturday. The same training format and the races will be repeated on Sunday. The second round, also in double races format, will be in Miami between February 7 and 9.
